Yesterday, I was wondering in front of my PC. Should I open the window and boost the fan just like my mothers and grandmothers did, or should I close the window and put my AC on.

I decided to open the window and found out all my neighbors are doing so.

I am living in the traditional area in central Tokyo, a bit closer to Asakusa and Ueno if you know the city. The area is mixture of temples, small factories, shops, craft shops, meat wholesalers and atop the small hills Universities and Uptown residential area are sited. We don't call ourselves Downtown people, but recently magazines invented a new word; New-downtown.

OK, that may do.

We are crammed together in a small houses along the narrow alleys. You can hear your next door's rerun TV dramas and alarm clock across the alley, but in winter time, everybody close their windows and become a bit remote.

Now the summer come and you can hear everything more clearly and some bring out their chairs on the alley to have tea. We meet more people on the street, say hello and ask about their dogs.

Rainy season and summer time Tokyo is just terrible, but this is one thing I like about summer. My town revives. We are outdated in one way or another, but I think I will open the window if it will not rain tomorrow, too.
